Otterbein Quartet Lands Top-Four Efforts at Whizzer Open

FINAL RESULTS

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Otterbein Wrestling team picked up a weekend event to help settle into the final regular-season stretch on Saturday, leaving campus in the wee hours of the morning to compete in the Whizzer Open at Henry Ford College.

The Cardinals saw a quartet of competitors earn top-four finishes in the event, headlined by a championship victory from heavyweight Billy Reed-Bodey.

Eric Saddler (133) and Brandon Thomas (197) landed third in their respective weight classes while Michael Eckelberry (157) took fourth.

Reed-Bodey had three bonus-point victories (two falls and a major) while Eckelberry tallied three pins (four total wins) on the day. Thomas rebounded from an earlier defeat with consecutive pins himself, the latter coming with 13 seconds remaining in the second period of his third-place bout.

Otterbein will gear up for a stiff test this coming Tuesday in the Rike Center, hosting nationally-ranked Ohio Northern as part of Senior Night. Exhibition matches will begin at 6 and the varsity dual will commence around 7 p.m.
