FINAL RESULTS
ASHLAND, Ohio – A nice sandwich meet was on the scheduled for Track and Field in the last weekend of April, as the Cardinals were looking to tune up between hosting their own Twilight Meet and in advance of the OAC Outdoor Championships.
The group made the quick scoot up 71 North to the Ashland Alumni Open, fighting through some cloud/overcast skies to also see sunshine and some nice performances.
Among the leading highlights were a pair of runner-up finishes from
Bill Daily (800 meters) and
Emma Klosterman (long jump). Daily ran 1:53 to cross second of 39 competitors, posting the fastest time for Otterbein in the last 40 years.
Klosterman cleared 5-4 ¼ to also take runner-up status in her field of 19, coming in only behind a D2 competitor from the host school. The height currently ranks her 25th nationally in the push to get back to NCAA's.
Vinny Zeren (200) and
Peyton Proffitt (pole vault) both took fourth place in their respective events. Zeren went 10.91 and Proffitt was fourth of 33 jumpers at 12-8 and change.
Devon Bellomy rested fifth of nearly 20 in the high jump, clearing 1.91 meters (6-3 ¼) while teammate
Landon Burns was a couple spots behind.
Manaka Yamauchi landed eighth in the 400 hurdles, making her way around in just under 1:09.
Daily,
Cal Yackin,
Carson Jones and
Jay Figgins ran the 4x4 together at the end of the meet. The entire quartet also ran the 800 together earlier in the meet, landing inside the Top 11.
The Cards will head back to Mount Union this coming Thursday and Friday for the two-day conference bonanza. A handful of Last Chance Meets will follow that.
