Ratliff leads Men's Cross Country to 4th-place finish at OAC Championships

FINDLAY - The Otterbein men's cross country team placed fourth of 10 teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, as three Cardinals earned All-OAC recognition.

The Basics

  • Hosted by Heidelberg, the 8K OAC Championships meet was held at Hillcrest Golf Club in Findlay, Ohio.
  • Full Results
  • The first 10 individuals earned All-OAC First Team recognition, and the next 10 individuals earned All-OAC Second Team recognition. Only the top seven finishers from each team are eligible for All-Conference honors.
  • This meet served as the Battle for the Oar rivalry competition between Otterbein and Capital. By finishing ahead of Capital (seventh) in the team standings, Otterbein retains the Oar trophy.

Race Results

  • The Cardinals scored 85 points and placed fourth of 10 teams.
  • John Carroll won the OAC team title with 26 points. Mount Union placed second with 61 points, Ohio Northern was third with 77 points, and Wilmington was fifth with 158 points. 
  • Wilmington's Noah Tobin won the individual OAC title, running a time of 24:20.
Top Otterbein Performers
  • Junior Payne Ratliff led the way for the Cardinals, placing sixth in the 176-man field with a time of 24:49 to earn First Team All-OAC honors. 
  • Freshman Tucker See finished 13th in 25:21 to earn Second Team All-OAC honors.
  • Sophomore Mitch Green finished 15th in 25:25 to earn Second Team All-OAC honors.
  • Junior Drew Osler finished 27th in 25:52. 
  • Junior Jonny Powers finished 28th in 25:53.
  • Junior Chase Jackson finished 33rd in 25:55.
  • Sophomore Caleb Rafferty finished 42nd in 26:10.

Notables

  • See, Green, Osler, Powers and Rafferty posted personal-best times for an 8K race.
  • Otterbein matched its fourth-place finish from the 2023 OAC Championships.
