Cochran Jr. highlights list of 5 Cardinals named All-OAC in Football

WESTERVILLE – Five Otterbein football student-athletes were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference for the 2024 season, as selected by league coaches.

Redshirt senior defensive back Randy Cochran Jr. highlighted Otterbein's honorees as an All-OAC First Team selection.

Senior defensive lineman Justin Bartlett and senior defensive back Vincent Fisher were named to the All-OAC Second Team, and junior linebacker Thomas Cherry and sophomore tight end Vincent Berardi were All-OAC Honorable Mention selections.

Cochran Jr. is now a two-time All-OAC selection after earning Second Team honors in 2023 following his transfer from the University of Akron.

He started all 10 games this season, totaling 66 tackles (40 solo, 26 assisted), eight tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions and one forced fumble. He tied for the team lead in interceptions, ranked second in solo tackles and tackles for loss and was third in total tackles. He tied for second in the OAC in interceptions and tied for seventh in solo tackles while ranking ninth in total tackles and 10th in tackles per game (6.6).

In two seasons at Otterbein, Cochran Jr. has 141 total tackles (85 solo, 56 assisted), 14 tackles for loss, three sacks, five interceptions, 11 passes defensed and one forced fumble in 20 games.

Bartlett earns his third All-OAC accolade after being an Honorable Mention selection in 2022 and 2023. A D3football.com All-Region and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree last season, he added to his impressive stat totals this year with 73 total tackles (31 solo, 42 assisted), 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 10 starts. He led the team in tackles for loss and ranked second in total tackles and sacks.

Named OAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month in September, Bartlett ranked sixth in the OAC in tackles per game (7.3), seventh in total tackles and tied for 12th in tackles for loss.

His 19.5 tackles for loss in 2023 rank third all-time at Otterbein for a single season, and he has career totals of 247 tackles (100 solo, 147 assisted), 43 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, three passes defensed and three forced fumbles in 38 games. He ranks third all-time at Otterbein in tackles for loss and closed the year three sacks shy of moving into fifth all-time in that category.

Fisher, Cherry and Berardi are all first-time All-OAC honorees.

Fisher started all 10 games this year and tallied 54 total tackles (36 solo, 18 assisted), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions and 14 pass breakups. He led the team in pass breakups and tied Cochran Jr. for the team lead in interceptions, ranking first and tied for second, respectively, in the OAC in those categories.

Fisher has career totals of 159 tackles (84 solo, 75 assisted), 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, six interceptions, 41 passes defensed and one forced fumble in 40 games.

Cherry started all 10 games and closed the season with team-highs in total tackles (97), solo tackles (46) and assisted tackles (51) while adding seven tackles for loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery. He led the OAC in tackles per game (9.7) and assisted tackles and ranked second in the league in total tackles and solo tackles.

In 17 games over two seasons at Otterbein, Cherry has 116 total tackles (54 solo, 62 assisted), nine tackles for loss, three sacks and one fumble recovery.

Berardi, the team's choice to wear the coveted No. 5 jersey this season, served as the Cardinals' primary tight end and long snapper. He started all 10 games and finished with 23 receptions for 219 yards and two touchdowns offensively.

He tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions while ranking third in receptions and fourth in receiving yards.

In 20 games through two seasons, he has career totals of 48 receptions for 461 yards and three touchdowns.
