WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University guard
Jack Clement has been named the latest
Midstream Lighting OAC Player of the Week in men's basketball following a pair of standout performances on the hardwood, both helping translate into victories for the surging Cardinals.
Clement, a graduate student from Bellefontaine, averaged 24 points and 10 rebounds on an efficient 54% shooting in triumphs over Marietta and Muskingum. The Cardinals have now won six of the last seven games as a result.
The week began with a wild 90-88 victory in double overtime at Marietta, where Clement dropped a game-high 26 to go along with nine boards. His team trailed by nine points with 1:25 left before he nailed two triples in the final minutes as part of a comeback, including the latter to beat the buzzer and force a second OT.
Clement then gave Muskingum another 23 points over the weekend on Senior Day, while also matching a career-high (from Ohio Wesleyan) with 11 rebounds. The primary ball handler committed just two turnovers over 79 minutes on the week.
He remains top five in the league for scoring (17.0/game), minutes (32.4) and three-point percentage (.405).
Otterbein is now 16-7 overall and 10-6 in the OAC, standing third place alone in the conference standing. An important week now lies ahead with top-ranked John Carroll visiting on Wednesday before the regular-season finale at No. 22-ranked Mount Union.
