2024 ALL-OAC TEAM
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – A trio of men's basketball guards represented Otterbein on the 2024 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team from this past season, in what marked yet another rugged and highly-competitive stretch on the hardwood in the league.
Graduate student
Jack Clement led the way as one of six players to land on the prestigious first team. Senior
Cam Evans (3x selection) took second team this time around while sophomore
Julian Heckman repeated with honorable mention status.
Overall, 21 standouts across landed a selection as voted on by coaches from each institution.
Clement (Bellefontaine/Bellfontaine) lands first team in a second league after earning North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors last year at Ohio Wesleyan. In his lone season with Otterbein, the lead guard settled fifth in the league at 17 points per game. He also led the OAC in minutes played (33.0) while ranking sixth with a .396 three-point percentage.
Clement, who also led Otterbein in rebounding at more than five per, shot exactly 50% from the field this year and was second on the team in assists. He ends his decorated career with 1,820 points.
Evans (Chillicothe/Zane Trace) becomes a 3x performer on the list after ranking seventh in the league at 15 ppg. The versatile combo guard was the only Cardinal to start all 26 games, ranking third in the OAC with a .814 free-throw percentage and seventh in minutes per contest.
The four-year contributor, who will be exercising a fifth season, holds more than 1,200 career points. He shot 47% from the field this winter and was second on the club in rebounding.
Heckman (Reynoldsburg/Reynoldsburg) takes honorable mention once again after his OAC Freshman of the Year award last time around. Finding his role alongside Clement and Evans, the steady ball handler averaged 11.3 points and ranked fifth in the league in assists per game. He shot a crisp 83% at the charity stripe, 48% from the entire floor and nearly 40% behind the arc.
The blossoming second-year guard, who also ranked second on the team in steals, scored double figures in eight of his last nine games.
Otterbein finished 17-9 this season and tied for third in the OAC regular-season standings, marking the program's first top-three finish in nearly two decades (runner-up finish in 2004-05).
