CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A proportion of the Track and Field squad took a trip to compete at the 49er Classic, a two-day event that marked the beginning of their outdoor season. The meet featured a combination of Division I, II and III schools competing and was unscored.
On the Women's Side:
- Alexis Weber returned to competition and tied for second place in the high jump in group A, clearing a height of 5' 5". This performance also tied her for fourth place on the school record board.
- Peyton Proffitt, fresh from her performance at the indoor championship, clinched the eighth spot in the pole vault group A while competing exclusively against Division I-level pole vaulters.
- Tashe Lee got herself a personal best time in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 27.77 seconds.
- Kat Wilt finished 24th in the 5000-meter run in a time of 19:35
On the Men's Side:
- In the high jump, Gabriel Scialdone was the runner-up in the high jump with a height of 6' 0¾"
- Nick Agerter placed second in the pole vault group B with a best height of 14' 7¼"
- Christian Barker placed 22nd out of 75 runners in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.98 seconds and middle of the pack in the 200-meter in 22.42 seconds.
- In the 800-meter run, Gavin Kelly and Jonny Powers ran their personal best times, finishing in 26th and 35th place.
- Powers set a new personal best in the 1500-meter run, clocking in at 4:09.
- Cameron Christopher finished in seventh place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:30.
- Payne Ratliff achieved an 11th place finish in the 10K race with a time of 31:44.
- Shamar Brittman finished in the middle of the field in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 59.21 seconds.
- Izaac Swope finished in 15th place out of 35 hurdlers in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.70 seconds.

Next weekend, the team will return to competition as they journey to New Concord for the Amy Adams Invitational, hosted by Muskingum.
