T&F: Cardinals Prep for OAC's with Ashland Alumni Open

FINAL RESULTS

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Otterbein Track & Field Programs used a final tune-up in getting officially prepped for the OAC Outdoor Championships, knocking off final exams and then spending graduation weekend over at the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday.

The Cardinals used the event to solidify marks in various events before the league-wide meet, which is set to take place May 2-3 at Heidelberg. See below for some notable highlights on both sides!

Men:
  • John Nice won the 5K with a trip of 15:08, dusting the field of 18 runners by well over a minute. Teammates Chris Klein and Ben Stanhope were in the top four.

  • Sophomore Collin Grundy delivered a huge PR in the javelin toss at 55.48 meters, equating to 182 feet even and the second-best result in program history. That now also ranks him atop the conference.

  • Abreheam Belcher also took third place in the field with his triple-jump effort of 12.52 meters (41-1).

  • Gavin Kelly took sixth in the 800 meters after covering the two laps in 1:56.

  • Jay Figgins (4:00) and Garrett Miller (4:01) landed top-six showings themselves in the 1500 meters. The race had 40 entrants.

  • Khalil Jones landed eighth in long jump at 6.80 meters, or 22-3 and change in feet.

Women:
  • Alex Weber won the high jump at 1.67 meters (5-5 ¾) in a field of 23 leapers. She will now turn focus to her first conference meet after missing the indoor version with an injury.

  • Charlie Dolliver earned a big personal-best time in the 100 hurdles that now ranks her sixth in the OAC, covering the race this time in 15.77 seconds.

  • Peyton Proffitt cleared 12-8 in tying for fourth in the pole vault, resting behind a D1 competitor from Youngstown State and a few D2 entrants.

  • Josey Johnson was fifth in the 800 meters after a 2:25 effort, while Angela Maio came in just a few seconds behind.

  • Alyssa Mattis and Sarah Scarborough were top seven in the 1500 meters, which saw 24 total runners. Mattis slipped across in 4:59.

  • Ravyn Goodson chucked a new PR in the hammer throw at 128-6.
