Ratliff, Swope break top-10 school records as Men’s Indoor Track and Field takes third at Muskie Meet #2

NEW CONCORD —Junior Payne Ratliff and sophomore Izaac Swope broke into the top 10 of Otterbein's school records as the men's indoor track and field team finished in third place at the Muskie Meet #2 on Saturday.

Otterbein's Top Performers - Running Events
  • 3000 Meters - Ratliff took first place in the 3000-meter run with a personal-best time of 8:38.10, breaking the previous meet record of 8:52.40 and earning the 10th spot on Otterbein's 3000-meter record list.
  • 60m Hurdles - Swope claimed victory in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.45 seconds, securing the sixth-best time on Otterbein's record list.
  • 500 Meters - Freshman Marquez Whitehead was the runner-up in the 500-meter run with a new personal-best time of 1:09.71
  • 800 Meters - Junior Jonny Powers secured fifth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.35.
  • 1 Mile Run - Freshman Joshua Porter and senior Dylan Burns finished 10th and 11th in the one-mile run, separated by just a tenth of a second, both with new personal-best times of 4:36.20 and 4:36.30. 
  • 400 Meters - Freshman Jack Van Fossen secured 14th place in the 400-meter run with a new personal-best time of 54.03 seconds.
  • 5000 Meters - Freshman Aidan Castillo claimed 11th place in the 5000-meter run with a new personal-best time of 17:14.26
  • 60 Meters - Swope finished 16th in the 60-meter sprint prelims, clocking a time of 7.32 seconds.
  • 200 Meters - Van Fossen finished 19th in the 200-meter dash, recording a new personal-best time of 24.07 seconds.
  • 4 x 400M Relay - The 4x400M relay squad of Powers, junior Gavin Kelly, freshman Henry Barnes and Burns placed seventh in a time of 3:43.17
Otterbein's Top Performers - Field Events
  • Long Jump - Freshman Jaret Harting won the long jump with a best mark of 6.78m (22'3")
  • Pole Vault - Sophomore Joe Hill won the pole vault with a height of 4.37 meters (14'4")
  • High Jump - Freshman Joab Bockstoce was the runner up in the high jump with a personal-best height of 1.90 (6'2.75") 
  • Shot Put - Sophomore Jordan Blankson placed 12th out of 50 throwers with a mark of 12.45m (40'10.25")
  • Weight Throw - Senior Brock Pemberton finished 10th in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 12.63m (41'5.25") 
Notables
  • Ratliff ranks eighth all-time at Otterbein in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:57.02 set earlier this season, giving him two top-10 all-time marks.
  • Swope's previous best time in the 60m hurdles was 8.48 seconds achieved during the 2024 season.
  • Harting ranks 10th on Otterbein's all-time leader board for the long jump with a mark of 6.88 meters set earlier this season.
