Esports excels in midseason matchups

The Otterbein University Esports team enjoyed a successful week, with Overwatch earning their first win of the season. 

Overwatch secured their first victory of the season against Huntington University on Monday. The Cardinals started strong with a 2-0 victory in Map 1. On Map 2, sophomore Jakob Lehman earned the play of the game in his debut game. Otterbein finished the series with a decisive win on the final map, led by senior captain Aiden Bruntz.

Valorant had two games this week starting on Wednesday where they took on Lawrence  Tech University, who was undefeated going into the match. They battled hard in Map 1, but ultimately fell 13-5. Junior Cayden Lassiter (Soda) led the way for the Cardinals with a K/D of 14/14. On Map 2, the team fell 13-0. For the second game of the week, Otterbein competed against Cleary University on Friday, where they won 2-0. In Game 1 they won 13-3, thanks in large part to Lassiter. In the second game, the Cardinals won in overtime, 15-13, seeing Ben Sommer (Leafy) going 28/23.

Smash had a bye week last week and will be back in action against Governors State University on Thursday, October 16 at 8:30 p.m. There will be a watch party in The Point Room 140 for this game.

The Rainbow Six Siege team started off their week in the second week of the ECAC and took down the University of Louisiana 2-1. They then went on to face the University of Wisconsin on Friday and also won 2-1. At the midway point of the season, sophomore Michael (Mike.OTTER) Huffman has is on the top of the stat sheet total K/D/A of 204/108/54.
