Esports battles hard in conference play

The Otterbein Esports teams faced a challenging yet electrifying week of competition, highlighted by an absolutely dominant performance from the Rainbow Six Siege squad. While Overwatch and Valorant fought hard against tough opponents, earning valuable experience and showing flashes of individual brilliance, the R6 Siege team stole the spotlight with a pair of victories against national powerhouses.

Starting the week off on Monday, Overwatch lost 3-0 to Lawrence Tech University. The Cardinals fought hard against the top team in the league, led into battle by senior captain Aiden Bruntz. Otterbein kept it close in Map 2, but couldn't shut down LTU's offense. Freshman Pierce Luster made his debut in the third map, earning one of the team's five eliminations.

Valorant took on the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday, losing a hard-fought series 2-0. In Game 1, on Ascent they fell by a narrow 13-10 margin. Ben Sommer (Leafy) went 26/29/12. In Game 2, the team dropped a 13-5 decision. Sommer once again was at the top of the scoreboard with a KDA of 23/14/4.

The Rainbow Six Siege team started off their ECAC regular season with another jump as they moved up to Division 1 in the league. Their first game came against Utah. Utah was ranked in Week 1 of Collegiate Rainbow 6 as the No. 5 team in the country. During Game 1, they won in dominant fashion by a score of 7-1. After falling 7-5 in Game 2, the squad rallied in Game 3 to win 7-3. Freshman Landon Chalfant (nastee.OTTER) led the way in all three games with a total K/D of 40/19. For the second game of the week, they took on another national powerhouse in Iowa. After a four-hour grueling set, Otterbein won in sudden death overtime in game 3 to hand Iowa their first loss in Midwest R6 in over a year. Sophomore Mike Huffman (Mike.OTTER) shined with a K/D of 30/20
