Soccer sees six named to CSC Academic All-District Teams

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University men's and women's soccer teams were well represented on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

The women's soccer team saw seniors Casey Rigel, Rae Ehrbar and Alyssa Lemos, as well as sophomore Alexis Pickerel honored with the award. Seniors Drew Boettcher and Jacob Irani were selected on the men's team. All six honorees have advanced to the national ballot where they will have a chance at earning Academic All-American accolades.

Ehrbar, the 2025 OAC Co-Midfielder of the Year, had a top-notch senior campaign with nine goals and one assist. The Systems Engineering, Data Science and Mathematics major was also named a First Team All-OAC selection this year and was an Academic All-District honoree in 2024.

Rigel appeared in 50 games through three full seasons in her career with the Cardinals. The Nursing major logged her first career goal in memorable fashion this season, coming in a 2-1 come from behind win against Denison.

Like Rigel, Lemos's lone goal of the 2025 campaign came in striking fashion, proving to be the game-winner against Capital. Lemos appeared in 45 games in her career, netting six goals and adding a pair of assists. The Allied Health and Chemistry major earns the award for the second consecutive season.

Pickerel receives her first CSC Academic All-District nod following a season where she started all 18 matches and logged over 1500 minutes on the pitch. An Allied Health major, Pickerel netted her first collegiate goal in a win at Muskingum this season.

The women's soccer team posted an 8-7-3 overall record and earned a share of the OAC Regular Season title before falling in the OAC Semifinals.

Boettcher, a sport management major, was a First Team All-OAC selection following a senior campaign that featured four goals and four assists. Starting all 20 matches, he played over 1700 minutes as a senior.

Irani collects his second CSC Academic All-District honor. He scored two goals this season – the second as the game-winner in the OAC Semifinals – competing in 17 matches. The Allied Health major capped his Otterbein career with over 6000 minutes on the pitch.

The men's soccer team won their second straight OAC Tournament Title with a 0-0 (5-4 PKs) decision over Ohio Northern. Otterbein competed in its third consecutive NCAA Tournament before falling to Hampden-Sydney, closing the year with an 11-3-6 overall record.

To be eligible, one must be a sophomore or higher in academic and athletic standing and hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA or better. Additionally, the student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or have started in at least 66 percent of the contests throughout the season.
