Robey, Whitehead capture OAC Athlete of the Week honors

WESTERVILLE – Ava Robey and Marquez Whitehead have been named the OAC Athletes of the Week in their respective sports, as announced on Monday afternoon.

Robey was named the Offensive Player of the Week, leading the women's lacrosse team to a 1-1 showing. In Wednesday's 16-11 win over Ohio Northern, the senior accounted for 12 of the Otterbein goals, scoring four times and dishing out eight assists. The 12 points and eight assists are both the second-highest in a game in program history. For the week, she controlled eight draws, while adding one assist in Saturday's loss against undefeated Wooster.

The women's lacrosse team heads to Capital on Friday for the Battle for the Oar. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.

Whitehead earns the Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor after a strong performance at the Denison Lid-Lifter. The sophomore won the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.42. He was part of the 4x100m relay team that took third, running a time of 43.98. Ending the night on a high note, he was the final leg of the 4x400m relay team that won with a time of 3:26.56 – nearly five seconds faster than the runner-up.

Otterbein track and field will compete at the Wooster Invitational Friday and Saturday.
