Sparks collects first OAC Player of the Week honor

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Freshman Cameron Sparks has been named the OAC Player of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon. In a 1-1 week for the Cardinals, Sparks averaged 20 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game.

In Wednesday's OAC win at Marietta, the freshman was near-perfect from the floor, scoring a career-high 24 points on a 10 of 11 effort. She pulled down 12 rebounds and added two seals and two blocks. On Friday, Otterbein went toe to toe with No. 20 Denison, where she led the team with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Sparks has recorded four double-doubles so far this season. Her 9.3 rebounds per game ranks her second in the OAC.

Otterbein will be idle for the week before returning to the hardwood on Dec. 29 as part of the Smokey Ballenger Classic. The Cardinals will host Washington & Jefferson for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
