Max Fickas was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16.
The recognition comes after he led the Cardinals in a 1-1 week in road matches at Franciscan and No. 20 Kenyon.
He won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and paired with freshman
Sanjan Shanker to win 7-6 (7-3) in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles in a 7-0 win at Franciscan.
In a 7-0 loss at No. 20 Kenyon, he fell 0-6, 1-6 at No. 1 singles and dropped a 1-6 match with sophomore
Nikita Kitaev at No. 1 doubles to close out the week at 2-2 overall.
An All-OAC First Team selection as a sophomore last season, Fickas is 5-7 overall this season, including 3-3 in singles and 2-4 in doubles. A transfer from NCAA Division II Belmont Abbey (N.C.) following his freshman season, he is 22-35 overall, including 12-16 in singles and 10-19 in doubles, in his Otterbein career.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday at Penn State Behrend at 2 p.m.
