WESTERVILLE – Otterbein sophomore
Jake Chilcote was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 10-16.
This marks the second such honor of the season for Chilcote, who was also selected on March 3, and the fifth straight week that an Otterbein student-athlete has earned this recognition. Junior
Max Fickas also has two Player of the Week accolades this season (Feb. 17 and Feb. 24), and sophomore
Neil Reddy was selected on March 10.
The latest honor for Chilcote comes after he posted a 7-1 overall record in four matches in Florida as the Cardinals scored wins of 5-2 over Saint Joseph, 4-3 over Loras, 5-2 over Maryville and 7-0 over St. Norbert. Will Newberry.
Chilcote won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and fell 6-7 in doubles against Saint Joseph. Against Loras, he won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles and 6-4 in doubles. He won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and 6-4 in doubles against Maryville. Against St. Norbert, he won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
An All-OAC Second Team selection and ITA Scholar-Athlete honoree last season, Chilcote has an 18-10 overall record (9-5 in singles, 9-5 in doubles) this season and is 38-31 (18-17 in singles, 20-14 in doubles) in his career.
Riding an eight-match win streak, the Cardinals return to action on Wednesday at Cedarville at 3:30 p.m.
