- Results
Returning to the national spotlight for the second straight year, Honkpo entered with confidence and composure in a talented field of 22 competitors. The Otterbein standout got on the board early with an opening jump of 7.08 meters (23-2 ¾) before finding his rhythm and launching 7.17 meters (23-6 ¼) on his second attempt - his best of the day.
That effort held through the final rounds and kept Honkpo safely inside the top eight, securing a spot on the podium.
Honkpo's All-American finish marks a major step forward from last spring's ninth-place effort and caps another standout season for the Cardinal.
UW-Oshkosh's Joshua Rivers, the reigning champion, successfully defended his title by soaring to a winning mark of 7.56 meters (26-1 ½).
