WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's golf team traveled to the River Greens Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday to compete in the OAC Preview. The Cards placed third out of 10 teams, with the "A" Team totaling a score of 610 and the "B" team totaling a 621.
Senior Clay Bruning was at the top for Otterbein, tying for fourth out of 56. Bruning shot a 75 in the first round before turning around to shoot a 73 (+1) in the second round of play. He was tied for the most birdies in the event with eight. Freshman
Drew Werling also had an impressive showing, tying for 12th overall, shooting a 73 in the first round and 79 his second round. Junior
Aidan Johnson shot for 15th overall, shooting a 75 for his first round then following with a 79 for round two.
Parker Steffanni and
Nick McMullen rounded out the "A" squad with both tying for 25
th in the tournament, each shooting a two-day total of 157.
For the "B" team, junior
Noah Huard led the squad, shooting a 76 on Saturday and an impressive 72 (E) for his second round. Huard also tied for fourth overall and tied for fifth in birdies for the tournament with seven.
Ty Gilbert was next up, tying for 14
th overall and shooting a 75 and 78 each day.
Nolan Kniese turned in scores of 80 and 78 for his performance, while
Hudson Able and
Nate McMullen rounded out the "B" team, tying for 40
th and 44
th.
Owen Sedgwick competed as an individual for the Cardinals, finishing tied for 19
th, shooting an 80 in his first round and finishing out round two with a 76.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Oct. 19th where they will compete at the Jeff Roope Invitational at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.
