Woodward wins medalist honors, men's golf takes first in Otterbein Thaw Out

HARRODSBURG, Ky. – In their spring debut at the Otterbein Thaw Out, the Otterbein University men's golf team won the invitational with a two-day score of 276-285 – 561 (-12). Carter Woodward won medalist honors after a two-hole playoff to cap off a weekend where he shot 68-71 – 139 (-5). The round of 68 on Saturday was a new season-best for the senior.

Otterbein's 'A' team was the only team to shoot under par in the event. Led by Woodward, Clay Bruning placed fourth for the Cardinals after shooting a 70-70 – 140 for the weekend, marking new season-lows. Ian Morgan finished one stroke behind Bruning (69-72 – 141) to tie for fifth, while Colin Bibler's 70-72 – 142 earned him seventh place honors. Jake Morgan shot a 71-72 – 143 to tie for eighth. Sophomore Aidan Johnson rounded out the 'A' squad by carding a 69-76 – 145, as the 69 was a season-low.

The Cardinal 'B' team finished third overall in the event with a two-day total of 299-293 – 592. Junior Nick McMullen led the way by carding a 69-72 – 141 to tie for fifth, also recording a season-best mark. Adding to the season-lows was Parker Steffani, who shot a 77-71 – 148. Sophomore Noah Huard was next with a 75-77 – 152 and Hudson Able followed by shooting a 79-74 – 153. Rounding out the squad was Nate McMullen, who totaled a 78-76 – 154.

Otterbein's women's team won their half of the invitational, completing the sweep for the Cardinals.

Otterbein returns to the links at the Muskingum Invitational Mar. 29-30. The two-day event will be held at the Cambridge Country Club in Cambridge, Ohio.
