WESTERVILLE, OHIO – Otterbein dropped a pair of conference games Friday afternoon, falling to John Carroll by scores of 11-1 and 11-0 in doubleheader action.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning of game one, the Cards received an RBI single from centerfielder Brittney Kuhn to cut the deficit to 2-1.
However, the Blue Streaks strung together nine runs in the top half of the fifth inning, all with two outs, to break open the game and eventually win 11-1.
Game two saw the Cards threaten early, loading the bases with two outs. Unfortunately, OC was unable to muster any runs as a pop-out would end the inning.
JCU then put together another big inning, this time posting six runs in the top half of the second to grab a 7-0 lead.
Sam Thompson stood strong on the hill for Carroll, limiting the Cardinals to just one hit over the five innings of play en route to earning the victory.
The team next travels to play Case Western Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
