Softball sees four named to Academic All-District Team

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Four members of the Otterbein University softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Seniors Rachel Miller and Caitlin Wilkins were joined by sophomores Kaylie Eichorn and Addison Yoder on the Academic All-District Team. Wilkins has advanced to the national ballot where she will have a chance at becoming an Academic All-American, announced later this summer.

Wilkins set the Otterbein single-season batting average record, hitting .513 this season in 34 games as a right-handed hitter. She was a First Team All-OAC honoree and did not commit an error in 75 total chances in the outfield. This is her second straight CSC Academic All-District distinction.

Miller earned her third CSC Academic All-District honor following a season where she appeared in 35 games for the Cardinals. Otterbein's centerfielder, Miller drew a team-high 16 walks while also committing zero errors in 72 chances.

Eichorn enjoyed a breakout year starting 28 games at second base. She hit seven doubles and drove in 13 runs as a sophomore and recorded a fielding percentage of .988.

Yoder appeared in 20 contests with 17 starts in the circle for the Cardinals, tossing 74 innings this season. In a balanced pitching staff, Yoder threw the majority of the innings and struck out 51 hitters.

To be eligible, one must be a sophomore or better in athletic and academic standing, hold a cumulative GPA of a 3.50 or higher, and compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start 66 percent of the games. For pitchers, one must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
