Cards Open at 1-1 in OAC Play

WESTERVILLE, OHIO—The Otterbein University women’s tennis team opened Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play at 1-1 with a win over Muskingum University and a loss to John Carroll University.

The Cardinals, 8-6 overall, continue OAC play Saturday, traveling to Capital for a 1 p.m. match, before returning home for matches against Wilmington College on Tuesday and the University of Mount Union April 16.

Otterbein opened OAC play on the road, just losing 5-4 at John Carroll last Saturday, and then bouncing back the next day with a 9-0 win at Muskingum.

“With two players missing from our singles lineup, we had our work cut out for us,” said Otterbein head coach Pat Anderson about the OAC opener at John Carroll. “I was pleased with the play of the players that stepped in and played hard. We had leads, but JCU played hard and turned those leads around to their advantage.”

Freshman Julie Stroyne and senior Kylie Hammons turned in a perfect week, each going 4-0—Stroyne at No. 1 singles and doubles, and Hammons at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Otterbein sits in a four-way tie for fourth place in the OAC.
