WESTERVILLE, OHIO—The Otterbein University women’s tennis team, finishing Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play at 6-3, earned the fourth seed in the OAC Tournament and will host fifth-seeded University of Mount Union, 3:30 p.m., Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
The Cardinals, 13-8 overall, closed out the regular season with a two-match split at home last week, losing to Baldwin-Wallace College, 7-2, before coming back to shut out Marietta College, 9-0.
Freshman Julie Stroyne eased through her matches for a pair of wins at first singles, winning 6-2, 6-2 against Baldwin-Wallace and 6-1, 6-0 against Marietta. She finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record in OAC play.
Senior Kylie Hammons posted an 8-1 conference record at fourth singles while sophomore Taylor Jordan finished 6-3 at second singles.
Mount Union, 8-9 overall, concluded the regular season with a 5-4 conference record. In this season’s meeting, Otterbein defeated the Purple Raiders, 9-0, at home April 16.
The winner of this quarterfinal match advances to the semifinals scheduled for Friday, 4:30 p.m., at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, and will meet the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between eighth-seeded Wilmington College and top-seeded Ohio Northern University. The final is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Lindner.
