NEW CONCORD, OHIO – The Otterbein University baseball team ended its seven-game losing skid Sunday afternoon, earning a pair of victories a Muskingum University in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action.

The Cardinals (18-16, 5-9 OAC) earned a 4-3 game one victory before overcoming a four-run deficit to take game two 10-8 in ten innings. The Muskies slip to 14-18 overall and 7-7 in OAC play with the losses.

Muskingum held a 3-2 lead after five innings of game one, but a two-run blast over the left field fence from Otterbein junior Wes Meadows ultimately proved to be the difference.

Junior David Cydrus turned in a complete-game effort on the bump, allowing three runs over seven innings to improve to 5-2 this spring.

Meadows, Sean Kettering, and Billy Harkenrider all tallied two hits in the opening game.

Muskingum used a four-run fifth inning to grab an 8-4 lead in game two, but the Cardinals began to chip away at the lead with a run in the seventh before three more in the eighth to draw even. Highlighting the inning was a triple to right field off the bat of Thomas Linder that brought home two runs.

Sophomore Greg Moomaw remained steady on the hill in relief, and a 2-RBI double from Kettering in the top of the tenth frame allowed the Cards to escape with the victory.

Linder hit safely in both games on the day, extending his hitting streak to an impressive 22 games.

Seven Cardinals registered a multi-hit game in the come-from-behind win, including three-hit performances from Kettering and fellow freshman Caleb Woodson.

Moomaw performed admirably on the mound over the final three innings, allowing three hits and no runs to earn the victory.

Otterbein returns to the diamond Thursday afternoon, stepping away from conference action to host a single, nine-inning game with Ohio Wesleyan at 4 p.m. Seniors Dustin Reuter, Kevin Castle, and Kevin Genter will be recognized prior to first pitch as part of Senior Day.
