MASON, OHIO – The Otterbein University women’s tennis team’s season concluded with a 5-3 loss to John Carroll University in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament semifinals Friday afternoon at the Lindner Family Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals, seeded third, bowed out for the second-straight year in the semifinals.
Otterbein only took one of the three doubles matchups and entered singles competition trailing 2-1. The Blue Streaks then took three singles matchups to clinch the win.
The Cardinals received another strong performance from sophomore Julie Stroyne in the first spot in both singles and doubles. She teamed with junior Taylor Jordan to pick up an 8-2 victory at first doubles and handled John Carroll Maria Ciccolini in straight sets at first singles (6-2, 6-1). Stroyne concluded the 2012 conference schedule undefeated against OAC opponents at first singles (10-0).
Senior Christine Kuester picked up Otterbein’s third win of the match. She defeated Tracy Gibson at fifth singles in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).
The Cardinals 2011-12 season concludes with a 10-9 overall record and a second-consecutive appearance in the OAC Tournament semifinals.
