WOOSTER, Ohio – The Otterbein University women’s tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over The College of Wooster Thursday evening.
The win improves the Cardinals to 4-2 this season, while the Fighting Scots fall to 1-3.
Otterbein players won all but one set over Wooster, including a dominant showing in doubles competition. The Cardinals won the doubles matches by a combined score of 24-5.
All six of Otterbein’s participants notched multiple victories in the match.
Junior Julie Stroyne improved to 5-0 at first singles this season with a 6-3, 6-2 win at that position.
Freshman Sammi Kruger rebounded from a tough loss at Oberlin College Saturday to pick up a strong 6-2, 6-2 win in second singles. She also teamed up with Stroyne to claim first doubles, 8-1.
Sophomore Emma Krummel at third singles (6-1, 6-3), freshman Adrien Leatherwood at fourth singles (6-2, 6-1), sophomore Kelsey Leachko at fifth singles (6-1, 6-2), and freshman Megan Locke at sixth singles (6-2, 2-6, 1-0 [10-5]) all picked up wins to complete the sweep by the Cardinals.
Otterbein has nearly a month off until they play again, with their next six matches to be played in central Florida. The Cardinals will open their spring trip on March 17 when they take on Lawrence University.
