MEDINA, Ohio – The Otterbein University women’s tennis team cruised to an easy 8-1 win over John Carroll University Saturday afternoon at the Richard A. Sanders Tennis Center.
The Cardinals improve to 10-4 overall, 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while the loss sends the Blue Streaks to 2-4 in the OAC, 3-9 overall.
Otterbein had a clean sweep in doubles play and won both No. 1 and No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Julie Stroyne and freshman Sammi Kruger clamed those wins in the top two spots and teamed up to claim No. 1 doubles 8-4.
Sophomore Emma Krummel and freshman Adrien Leatherwood paired up to win No. 2 doubles 8-1. Krummel went on to earn a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles, while Leatherwood followed up the doubles win with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore Emily Harper also earned two victories for the Cardinals against John Carroll. She paired with sophomore Kelsey Leachko to claim third doubles 8-4 and went on to win No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-2.
Otterbein will be back on the courts Thursday, April 18, when they host Marietta College for a 3:30 p.m. matchup.
