ALLIANCE, Ohio – Otterbein University men’s lacrosse overcame a slow start to earn another victory Wednesday evening, leaving the University of Mount Union with a 12-5 win.
The win marks the fourth in a row for the Cardinals, who move to 9-4 on the season and will next host Thiel College Saturday at 1 p.m.
Mount Union, a first-year program, held a 3-1 lead after one quarter before Otterbein worked back to tie the contest, 3-3, entering halftime.
The game went into the fourth locked at 4-4 before the Cardinals sprinted away, tallying six-straight goals from five different players en route to the win.
Junior Mikey O’Neal continued his hot play with a three-goal, two-assist effort to lead all scorers. He entered the week ranked 26th-nationally in assists.
Senior Andrew Donatelli tacked on three more goals to his season total while Mike Dattolo netted a pair of his own.
Faceoff specialist Carlos Salazar won 13 of his 18 opportunities at the X, picking up seven ground balls in the process.
Derek Hohn corralled five ground balls while goalie Adam Hatchard recorded six saves on 11 shots faced. Hatchard entered the week ranked 13th in NCAA Division III in save-percentage.
Otterbein held a commanding 58-14 shot advantage in the game, doubling up the Raiders in ground balls, 33-16, and clearing the ball on all 14 attempts.
