Men's lacrosse to host OAC Quarterfinal on Saturday

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Closing out the regular season on a three game winning streak, the Otterbein University men's lacrosse team has earned the No. 4 seed for the OAC Tournament and will host No. 5 seeded Mount Union on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's quarterfinal will play in the semifinal matchup on Wednesday, Apr. 29.

SCOUTING No. 4 OTTERBEIN (8-7, 5-3): Sophomore Max Luther has enjoyed a breakout year all season long, concluding the regular season with 45 points. He sits second on the squad behind Jack Regruth, who leads the team with 51 points. Andrew Lewis, Zach Mulligan, Marcus Wright and Gabe Thayer have all been solid options all year for the Otterbein offense.

On defense, Theron Cable's 19 caused turnovers are a team-best and rank him in the top five in the Ohio Athletic Conference. He along with Nick Miller and Max Esque lead a strong defense, with Zach Courie logging most minutes in goal.

SCOUTING No. 5 MOUNT UNION (8-7, 4-4): The Purple Raiders earned the No. 5 spot after defeating Muskingum, 9-8 on Wednesday night. Sophomore Talon Osmun paces the Mount Union offense with 67 points, coming off 49 goals and 18 assists. Sly Sundown has also contributed 60 points, serving as the 1-2 punch for the Purple Raiders.

When the two teams met on Mar. 28 in Alliance, the Cardinals came away with a 19-11 victory. Jack Regruth and Gabe Thayer each turned in four goal, one assist afternoons, while Andrew Lewis and Nick King each added four points. Defensively, Theron Cable was tremendous, causing three turnovers with Zach Courie totaling eight saves in goal.

In the other quarterfinal game, Capital will host Muskingum, while Baldwin Wallace and Ohio Northern received first round byes.
