Women's Tennis Dominates Heidelberg

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinals continued to roll in their 9-0 win over Heidelberg University Tuesday afternoon at the Richard A. Sanders Tennis Center.

Otterbein University improves to 14-4 overall, 6-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Meanwhile, the Student Princes fall to 2-5 in league action, 3-10 overall.

The Cardinals have now shutout three-straight opponents, and have only lost one singles match in their last five matches.

Otterbein won all three doubles matches to take a significant edge heading into singles competition. The Cardinals continued their dominance by winning every set of all six singles matches. Otterbein tennis players lost just 10 games against Heidelberg, including two 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Junior Julie Stroyne continued her own personal dominance of the OAC, with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Stroyne, who ranks 11th in the most recent ITA Central Region Rankings, is 6-0 against conference foes and has only dropped a total of three games in league play. She also teamed with freshman Sammi Kruger to take No. 1 doubles 8-2.

The Cardinals will take to the road for their final two matches of the regular season, starting with a 3:30 p.m. match on Friday, April 26, in Berea against Baldwin Wallace University.
