WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University improved to 3-0 on the season Thursday afternoon, tallying a 3-0 victory over visiting Hiram College at Clements Field.

The Cardinals will next host Ohio Wesleyan University Tuesday afternoon, with starting time set at 4 p.m. The Terriers, meanwhile, fall to 3-0 on the season with the loss.

Otterbein junior Jared Pulliam, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player of the Week, gave the Cards an early lead with a goal in the 19th minute of play. Pulliam took a pass from sophomore Luis Rivas, who had found a loose ball in the box, and finished lower left for his fifth goal of the season.

Freshman Ross Pfeil extended the margin to 2-0 at the 36:51 mark, corralling a ball that popped out of a challenge and quickly blasting it home.

The Terriers nearly cut the deficit in half midway through the second, as a shot that appeared to be going high ducked down and deflected off the cross bar.

Otterbein senior Evan Fallon bumped the lead to 3-0 in the 75th minute after a Hiram yellow card, drilling a free kick from just outside the 18 over the Hiram goalkeeper's reach.

Hiram's Bobby Daggett hit the cross bar moments later, but that would be as close as the visitors would get to scoring the remainder of the way.

The Terriers finished with a 14-10 shot advantage, which included four that hit the cross bar and a missed penalty kick off the post. Otterbein keeper Kyle Ripma made three saves in posting the shutout.
