Cards Solidify Their Hold Atop the OAC

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—The Otterbein University women's tennis team solidified its hold atop the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) standings, running its record to 5-0 with a 6-3 win at John Carroll University Saturday.

With the win, Otterbein improved to 14-2 overall while the Blue Streaks dropped to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.

Otterbein won first and third doubles, and captured singles wins on courts one, two, four and six.

Both three-time OAC player of the year Julie Stroyne and first team All-OAC performer Sammi Kruger remained perfect in conference play this season, each 10-0. The pair teamed up for an 8-2 win at first doubles and breezed through their singles matches.

Stroyne won first singles, 6-0, 6-2, and Kruger took second singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Rylie Markle and Kelsey Leachko captured third doubles with an 8-2 score.

Adrien Leatherwood and Markle won the other two matches in singles play. Leatherwood took fourth singles, 6-3, 6-2, and Markle won sixth singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The Cardinals are scheduled to resume play Friday, taking on Muskingum University, beginning at 10 a.m.
