Match Results

WESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Otterbein University women's tennis team wrapped up a perfect regular season, winning the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular-season championship outright with a 9-0 shutout over Heidelberg University Saturday on Senior Day in Westerville.

It was the third title for the Cardinals since the OAC began to recognize a regular-season champion in 2003, and was also the third time in program history that Otterbein went unbeaten in conference play.

With the win, Otterbein's 13th straight, the Cardinals improved to 17-2 overall and 8-0 in the OAC. The Cardinals finished the regular season one game ahead of Ohio Northern University and will be the No. 1 seed in the OAC tournament, which gets underway this week.

Three-time OAC player of the year Julie Stroyne, one of two seniors on the team, finished the regular season a perfect 16-0 against OAC competition, winning both of her matches today against Heidelberg. Stroyne took first singles, 6-2, 6-1, and teamed up with Sammi Kruger to win first doubles, 8-2. Kruger also won second singles, 6-2, 6-4.

Other multiple winners for the Cards included Adrien Leatherwood, second doubles and third singles, and Rylie Markle, third doubles and fifth singles.

Otterbein's other senior, Alana Cheplowitz, celebrated the day with a 6-2, 6-0 victory on court six.

Otterbein is scheduled to host Capital University in a quarterfinal match of the OAC tournament Tuesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The semifinals and final are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, with the tournament winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA championships.
