Box Score WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University men's soccer team dropped a non-conference outing against fourth-ranked Kenyon College Friday evening, falling 3-0 at Clements Field.
Kenyon, who moved up ten spots to No. 4 in the latest national poll, improves itself to 3-0 while Otterbein now stands at 1-2 for the young season.
Both sides traded possession throughout the initial 15 minutes, but the Lords struck quickly after that as leading scorer Tony Amolo found the back of the net twice in a 50-second span. The first goal came as a header off a corner kick before he tracked down a long ball moments later, beat Otterbein goalie Mack Stamper and another defender to finish.
Kenyon extended its advantage to 3-0 prior to halftime, watching Edgar Arceo come off the bench and score almost immediately on a rope from nearly 30 yards out.
The Cardinals battled and hung tough with Kenyon throughout the second period, winning 50/50 balls and finding some quality runs at certain points.
Kenyon finished with a 22-11 shot margin, taking seven corner kicks compared to Otterbein's five. Stamper finished with seven saves in the Otterbein net while Sam Clougher had five of his own on the opposite end. Five players were carded in the match.
Otterbein returns to action Sunday afternoon, hosting Wittenberg University at 2 p.m.
