Box Score

BEREA, Ohio – A pair of late goals in regulation sent the Otterbein men's soccer team to an eventual 2-2 draw at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest.

The Cardinals, who move to 8-5-3 overall and 3-2-2 in conference play, will return home for their final two games of the regular season beginning on Oct. 27 in a matchup with Marietta at 7 p.m.

Baldwin Wallace opened the game with a quick score just 1:37 into regulation, as Zach Smith posted his first goal of the season off an assist by Jeremy Foust. Otterbein found a handful of chances on goal throughout the first period, as Luis Rivas and Reid Wolfe each registered close shots for the Cards in the first 35 minutes of action. The Cards led the first half in shots at 8-5, while both teams picked up a pair of corner kicks. The Yellow Jackets led 1-0 at the break.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second half with a quick score less than 10 minutes in, as Smith tallied his second goal of the game off an assist by Luke Westkamp. The 71st minute proved to be the comeback trail for the Cards, as Alex Holtom brought the team to within one goal of its opposition with his second goal of the year off an assist by Erick Juarez-Manning. The assist was Juarez-Manning's fourth of the year.

Holtom then reversed roles two minutes later to assist Wolfe on his second goal of the season, tying the Yellow Jackets at 2-2 with just over 17 minutes remaining in regulation. Cardinal goalkeeper Mack Stamper came up with a pair of clutch saves over the final 10 minutes of regulation, keeping the score knotted at two goals apiece heading into overtime.

Neither team managed to find the back of the net in either overtime period, as the Cardinals controlled both ends of the field totaling six shots and limiting the Yellow Jackets to just two shots. Otterbein captured the shot margin easily at 23-12, amounting 10 shots on goal throughout the contest.

Both goalkeepers went the distance, as Stamper finished the game with four saves for the Cards, while Yellow Jacket goalkeeper Zach Haynes posted eight saves in 110 minutes between the posts.
