Luis Rivas netted a dramatic double overtime score to lift the Cardinals, 2-1, over Heidelberg in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who are now on a six-game winning streak, improve to 6-3-1 on the year and 1-0 in OAC play.
After a scoreless first period in which both teams were deadlocked at five shots apiece, the Cardinals inked the scoreboard first in the 67th minute.
Nate Norris was the initial Cardinal goal scorer, tallying his fourth goal in the last three games off a pass from Rivas in the box that deflected off a Heidelberg defender and into Norris' control.
Otterbein defended its one goal lead for over 15 minutes, before Heidelberg's Sebastian Calderon notched his first goal of the year off a corner kick by Porus Shroff in the 82nd minute.
Both teams battled back and forth on the defensive end for the remaining eight minutes of regulation, forcing a first overtime period. The Student Princes held a 16-7 advantage in shots through 90 minutes of play.
The first overtime featured a combined four shots, three of which were credited to the Student Princes, with the Cards lone shot coming off a Rivas attempt that was just high of the opposing goal.
Following a pair of yellow cards in the 105th and 106th minutes, Rivas gathered the ball just past midfield en route to a breakaway score for his team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Despite being doubled up by its opposition in shots at 20-10, Otterbein made the most of its opportunities with six shots on goal. The Cards also enjoyed a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon.

Mack Stamper was solid in keeping the Student Princes from gaining the lead, stopping nine shots in over 107 minutes in goal. Heidelberg goalkeeper Jake Kress tallied four saves on the day.
A physical style of play filtered its way throughout the match, as the two teams combined for four yellow cards and 35 fouls, 23 of which were committed by Heidelberg.
