Match Results

WOOSTER, Ohio—The Otterbein University women's tennis team ran its record to 3-1 with a 6-3 victory at the College of Wooster Tuesday.

"Our upperclassmen played a big role in this match especially with Rylie Markle (No.1 doubles) out with an injury," said Otterbein head coach Pat Anderson.

The Cardinals swept through doubles, winning all three matches, despite a doubles' lineup that featured two freshmen. Sammi Kruger teamed up with freshman Alyx Lynham to win first doubles, 8-6, while Emily Harper and freshman Emily Quill took third doubles, 8-5. Adrien Leatherwood and Emma Krummel won second doubles, 8-5.

Kruger, Leatherwood and Lynham were repeat winners in singles play. Kruger won her first set, 6-4, in No. 1 singles before Wooster's Rachel Mole retired due to an injury. Leatherwood swept third singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Lynham scored Otterbein's sixth point with a 7-5, 6-4 win at fifth singles.

"There is a lot of learning going on right now," Anderson said. "Our trip to Florida will help cement the line-up."

Otterbein is scheduled to play four matches in Orlando, Fla., beginning with Saint Vincent College March 2 before opening Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play March 21 with a home match against the University of Mount Union. Otterbein is defending OAC regular-season and tournament champions.
