Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein Cardinals tallied a fifth-straight victory Saturday afternoon in men's lacrosse, staying perfect in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a 13-7 win at Mount Union.
The Cardinals, now 3-0 in league play, received a game-best four goals from junior Connor Baak while four other players had a multi-goal day as well.
Otterbein led just 2-1 after the opening quarter, but out-scored the Purple Raiders 5 in the second frame to take a 7-3 lead into the break. The Cards dominated the third period, scoring all four goals in the frame (two from Robbie Guiliano) to blow the game open.
Mount Union (3-7, 0-2 OAC) netted a pair of goals to begin the fourth quarter, but the climb would be too steep as Otterbein ultimately left victorious. Guiliano finished with three goals while Marcus Willis, Brandon Stroup and Connor Dziewit all had two each. Willis also assisted a pair of scores.
Junior Carlos Salazar controlled the game in the middle, winning 15 of his 20 faceoffs and allowing Otterbein to attempt nearly twice as many shots as the Raiders, 44 to 23. Thirty of those shots were on goal.
Goalie James Gundling enjoyed a nice day after getting the previous game off, stopping nine shots in the cage before giving way to Matt Niemi in the closing minutes.
Otterbein will be back in action Wednesday afternoon, traveling to take on cross-town Capital University at 4 p.m. in Bexley.
