WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's lacrosse team advanced to its second-straight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship game Wednesday evening, posting an 11-8 win over third seed Baldwin Wallace University in semifinal action at Memorial Stadium.

The Cardinals, seeded second, will now get another shot at cross-town rival Capital University in Saturday's championship game down in Bexley at 5:30 p.m. The Crusaders, which handed Otterbein a slim 7-6 loss earlier this season, made their way into the title game by holding off John Carroll, 8-6, earlier Wednesday afternoon.

Otterbein overcame 11-straight losses at the face-off X to begin the night against Baldwin Wallace (12-3), scoring three times in the first period as Marcus Willis found Mike Sullivan on two separate occasions.

The Yellow Jackets found some momentum behind the hot play off face-off specialist Alex Fioritto in the second period, going on a 4-1 run that ultimately brought the score even by the 7:29 mark of the frame. Otterbein collected itself from there, getting an unassisted goal from Willis followed by a score off the stick of Connor Baak with just five seconds to play before the break.

Otterbein rallied behind Sullivan in the third quarter, out-scoring BW 5-2 in the period to open an 11-6 lead heading into the fourth. Sullivan had a hand in four of the team's five goals during the stretch.

The Jackets scores twice late in a low-scoring fourth quarter, but it wouldn't be nearly enough as Otterbein improved to 12-4 on the season.

Sullivan turned in a career-best seven points for Otterbein, scoring four times and setting up another three goals to lead all scorers. Willis finished with four points, one goal and three helpers, while middie Brandon Stroup scored twice to go along with one assist.

James Gundling was impressive yet again in the Cardinal goal with 14 saves while defenseman Adam Norris had four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Vinny Carson led Baldwin Wallace with three points while Fioritti finished 15 of 23 at the face-off X.
