WESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Otterbein University men's and women's tennis teams advanced into the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) tournament with a pair of shutout wins at home earlier this week.

The Otterbein men's team, seeded second, is scheduled to play third-seeded Capital University, 1 p.m., Friday at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason. The Cardinals advanced into the semifinals with a 5-0 win over seventh-seeded Heidelberg University Tuesday in Westerville.

"We're very happy to be in the semifinals of the OAC tournament, but we definitely have a tough match ahead of us," said Otterbein men's head coach Mark Anderson. "Capital beat us in league play, but I'm confident we're up to the task."

The women's team, seeded fourth, follows the men's match at 4:30 p.m., taking on host and top-seeded Ohio Northern University at 4:30 p.m. at Lindner. Otterbein advanced to the semifinals with a 5-0 win over fifth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University Wednesday in Westerville.

Although the Cardinals are taking on the No. 1 seed in the tournament, women's head coach Pat Anderson feels her team is ready to play.

"Being the underdog is not always a disadvantage and our upperclassmen are focused," Anderson said. "The most we can do is let our racquets do our talking."

Both Otterbein teams won the tournament last season and advanced into the NCAA championships for the first time in school history.

The Cardinal men defeated Baldwin Wallace, 5-0, while the women's team got by Ohio Northern, 5-2, in the 2014 OAC championships. The women's team is making its ninth-straight appearance in the OAC semifinals. The men are making their fifth straight.
