Men's Lacrosse Beats Muskingum 11-1 in Shortened Contest

Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein men's lacrosse upped its season record to 8-3 on the spring season Wednesday evening, cruising to a 11-1 win over visiting Muskingum University in a shortened contest at Memorial Stadium.

The Cardinals, now 2-0 within the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), scored four times in the opening period before bumping the cushion to 9-0 by the break.

Muskingum (3-6, 0-1 OAC), a first-year program playing in its first-ever league game, got on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter on a goal from Andrew Buchbinder, who picked up a loose ball in front of the net and finished.

The game entered a lightning delay with 4:25 remaining in the third quarter and, after several more sightings, was called for good and declared an official contest.

Marcus Willis led all scorers on the Otterbein side with a two-goal, two-assist performance, while attackman Robbie Guliano added three points. Mike Sullivan scored twice and Nick Tholt and Connor Baak each finished with one goal and one helper.
Otterbein finished with a 28-11 shot advantage (19-4 on goal) and captured 13 of 15 faceoffs.

Cardinal goalie John Brandon made three saves in the opening half in replacement of usual starter James Gundling, who was given the night off.

Otterbein will be back in action Saturday afternoon, traveling to take on the University of Mount Union at 1 p.m. The Cards also played the Raiders up in Alliance last season, walking away with a 12-6 win behind four goals from Sullivan.
