Men's Lacrosse Drops 16-7 Matchup at Kenyon

Box Score

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Otterbein University men's lacrosse team fell 16-7 at Kenyon on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup at McBride Field.

Otterbein (3-4 overall) got down 1-0 less than two minutes into the game before senior midfielder Connor Baak knotted the score at one apiece on an unassisted goal at the 10:33 mark of the opening period.

Kenyon went on to tally four-straight scores over a span of nearly 10 minutes, boosting its lead to 5-1 with just under 12 minutes until halftime. Sophomore attack Connor Dziewit tallied two of his five goals in the second quarter, but to no avail, as the Lords posted four goals to take a 9-3 lead at the break.

The Cards surrendered the first goal of the third period before senior attackman Robbie Guiliano reached the 100-goal plateau for his career on an unassisted score with 5:18 remaining. Dziewit managed to score three more times for the Cards but Otterbein allowed six additional goals to Kenyon before time ran out.

Dziewit finished tied for the game-high with five goals, taking 11 shots while picking up a groundball. Guiliano also tallied an assist on one of Dziewit's goals and took seven total shots in the game. He needs just eight more goals to become Otterbein's all-time leader in the category.

Freshman defender Derek Petrucci recorded the only other assist for the Cards. Junior goalie James Gundling posted his second loss in goal while saving 13 shots.

The Cardinals will look to rebound with a win on Saturday as the team travels to Adrian College (Mich.) for a 3 p.m. game.
