BEREA, Ohio - The Otterbein women's tennis team recorded its seventh-straight win with an 8-1 defeat of Baldwin Wallace on the road Saturday afternoon inside the Higgins Center Fieldhouse.
The Cardinals (9-2 overall) improve to 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play and will look to trump its 11-match winning streak from a year ago when it takes it hosts Ohio Northern next Wednesday. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m. at the Sanders Tennis Courts.
Otterbein swept all three matches in doubles competition to take an early 3-0 advantage over Baldwin Wallace, but the matches were not all a breeze for the Cards as two of the three were decided by three or less points.
Senior
Rylie Markle and freshman
Makayla Sutter led the Cards in first doubles with an 8-5 win over Imani Robinson and Liz Radkiewicz, while juniors
Sophia Navas-Davis and Emily quill teamed up in the second spot for an 8-6 defeat of Claire Watts and Emily Dahnert.Â

Megan Yates and freshman
Marriella Briones rounded out the third point for the Cardinals in third doubles with a solid 8-3 victory over Kelly Peskura and Shannon Finkenthal.Â
Markle carried her success into singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Robinson in the lead spot, followed by her doubles partner Sutter who posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Watts in second singles. Sophomore
Sophie Allen suffered the lone Cardinal defeat on the day despite battling to a tie-break win in set one before being defeated in an 11-9 third-set tiebreaker.Â
Navas-Davis also proved victorious in fourth singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Peskura, while Briones found herself in a back-and-forth showdown in No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 3-6, 15-13 win in three sets. Yates added to her win in doubles with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of BW's Hayley Geronimo in sixth singles.
