WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's tennis team had a quick turnaround after suffering its first conference loss to John Carroll, as the Cardinals bounced back and defeated Capital 9-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Less than 24 hours ago, Otterbein lost to the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Champions John Carroll 7-2. The Cardinals woke up early and took care of business against the Crusaders on Saturday morning.
- Sydney Bergman and Makayla Sutter started the sweep by winning 8-4 in first doubles. Marriella Briones and Jordyn Traxler earned the second point for Otterbein by coming away with an 8-1 victory. Kristen Zink and Megan Yates had the only sweep in doubles defeating the opposition 8-0.
- Bergman picked up her ninth win of the season by winning 6-1, 6-1, as Sutter came away with a win in the second singles slot by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
- In third singles, Briones earned her team-high 13th win of the season. Zink won her fourth singles match 6-1, 6-2, while Mueller flipped the score and won 6-2, 6-1 in fifth singles. Megan Stuteville rounded out the Cardinal bunch with a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Cardinals improve to 5-0 at home, with two match results of 9-0.
- Briones, Mueller and Stuteville have been an impressive 8-2 in their previous 10 matches.
- Otterbein continues to show off its depth, as the Cardinals own a .875 and .938 winning percentage in both fifth and sixth singles.
- Zink and Mueller stay perfect on the season by winning their fifth match from third doubles.
