WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Otterbein women's tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan, 7-2, Tuesday afternoon to claim its 10th victory of the season. The Cardinals are now 10-2 overall, while the Battling Bishops fall to 3-11 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Otterbein claimed two of three victories in the doubles portion, as Marriella Briones and Jordyn Traxler earned an 8-3 win in second doubles. Madison Mueller and Kristen Zink also came away with an 8-3 victory in third doubles.
- Makayla Sutter earned a crucial victory in second singles, as the junior won her first set 6-1. Sutter won the tiebreaker 10-8.
- Briones won her singles match 6-0, 6-1 and Mueller won, 6-3, 6-3, in fourth singles. Megan Stuteville came away with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the sixth singles slot.
- Zink cruised in the first set winning by a score of 6-1, before Diamond Pearson came back to win the second set 6-4. Zink maintained her composure and won the tiebreaking set.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Ohio Wesleyan was able to claim a 7-2 victory last season, as Meryl Reams came away victorious for the Battling Bishops. Briones got revenge against Reams this season and claimed her team-high 10th victory.
- Mueller and Zink stay undefeated in third doubles by earning their third-straight victory.
- Stuteville improves to 7-1 on the season and a perfect 5-0 in sixth singles.

The Cardinals will host Heidelberg this Saturday at 3 p.m. Last season Otterbein earned a 9-0 sweet against the Student Princes.
