MIAMISBURG, Ohio – The Otterbein women's tennis team lost in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) semifinals to Ohio Northern, 5-2, Saturday afternoon, as the Cardinals season comes to an end at 17-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles, as Sydney Bergman and Makayla Sutter picked up their 14th first doubles victory by a result of 8-1.
- Madison Mueller and Megan Yates won 8-4 at third doubles, as the duo is a perfect 5-0 on the year.
- The Polar Bears came alive in the singles portion by winning four matches, as Sutter had a close finish at second singles falling 6-2, 3-6, 4-6.
- Rachelle Moses stepped up into the sixth singles slot and battled 3-6, 4-5 before unfinished sets.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Cardinals had their most wins in a season since 2015-16 when the team won 18 matches and lost in the OAC Championships.
- Marriella Briones finishes the season with an impressive 17-6 individual record and a 31-14 overall record.
- Otterbein finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record at home, which is the third time the Cardinals have been perfect at home in the last decade.
