Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio – After the middle of the week off, Otterbein got back into action (and into the win column) with a lopsided 17-2 victory at host Wilmington during a sunny afternoon.
The Cardinals, playing their second-straight road game to begin the schedule, also begin Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) at 1-0. Last week's opener with Ohio Northern was one of four contests deemed "non-conference" this spring.
A well-rounded effort saw goals from 11 different Otterbein players, including multi-goal outings by
Aidan Moore,
Dekaider Jackson,
Cole Werbrich and
Ty Forney. Moore, just a freshman, now has five goals thus far in his young career.
The Cardinals finished with a commanding 61-8 edge in total shots, winning 16 of 22Â facoffs and clearing the ball successfully all 12 times. Goalies
Zach Groene and
Bret Beddard split time in the cage, each playing a half while enjoying the defensive effort in front.
Otterbein will have another full week off to keep working out the kinks, before finally welcoming Heidelberg for its home opener March 13 inside Memorial Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
