FINAL RESULTS
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein handled Mount Union for the second time in four days Tuesday afternoon, this time indoors and during quarterfinal action of the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament.
The Cardinals, seeded third in the expanded six-team event this spring, blanked the Purple Raiders by a 5-0 score to advance into Friday's semifinal against Ohio Northern. Otterbein recently beat Mount 8-1 over the weekend outside.
This rematch took place inside the Clements Recreation Center due to a challenging day of weather on campus, but the end team result remained much of the same.
Otterbein cruised once again in doubles play, with
Madi Mueller and
Jordyn Traxler receiving the toughest challenge despite prevailing 8-6. Both other courts finished a lopsided 8-1.
Mueller and
Erin Storrer then made quick work of their opponents atop the singles lineup, with Storrer winning 6-2, 6-0 and Mueller settling 7-6, 6-1. All other showdowns went unfinished as the Cards clinched the day.
Otterbein will now look to avenge a slim 5-4 loss to Ohio Northern back in the first week of April. The rematch will take place at the customary Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, with ONU serving as the host.
John Carroll and Capital will square off in the other semifinal contest, with the winners returning Saturday for a championship showdown.
