WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Head Softball Coach
Brooke Donovan has announced that she is resigning from her position at Otterbein to pursue a new opportunity with College Coaches Skills Camp, LLC.
Donovan, recently finishing her third year at the helm of the Cardinal program, is moving on to become an Assistant Sport Director for CCSC. She will oversee the marketing, promotion and logistics of all camps.
"I would like to thank the Otterbein administration, staff and faculty for their support during my time in Westerville," Donovan said. "I wish the softball program, and the entire athletic department, continued success in the years to come."
Donovan was hired in the summer of 2018, eventually compiling a 44-45 overall record while helping lead the Cardinals through some challenging and unique stretches due to the pandemic. As a first-year head coach, she guided Otterbein to an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament crown and subsequent bid to the NCAA Championships.
The Cards were looking to carry that momentum into the 2020 season, off to a 6-3 start before CoVID had other plans and forced a shutdown. Otterbein then missed the postseason this past spring with a 14-25 record, beginning the schedule 6-1 but ultimately dropping 14 narrow games by two runs or less.
"Brooke is embracing new opportunities in her career," said
Dawn Stewart, director of athletics. "We are supportive of her next steps and will miss her competitive spirit."
Otterbein will now begin a search this summer to replace Donovan atop the softball program.
