FINAL RESULTS
ADA, Ohio – The Otterbein women's tennis team has now won six of its last seven matches, and launched Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with a quick 2-0 mark after a road win at Ohio Northern across Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals, advancing their record to 11-3 overall, worked for a 7-2 victory against the Polar Bears in league action.
Otterbein breezed to a pair of wins on the top two doubles lines, with
Erin Storrer and
Emma Henson prevailing 8-1 and
Lillia Walter/
Madi Mueller going just a tad long for an 8-2 decision.
Aubrey McMahon and
Rachelle Moses competed well, but came up short in an 8-5 loss on the third line…
The Cards then captured all but one court in singles, claiming the top-three spots with relative ease. Storrer (6-0, 6-1), Walter (6-0, 6-1) and Henson (6-1, 6-0) helped get the team to five clinching points out of the gate.
Mueller was out-dueled in a pair of tight 7-6, 7-5 sets while Moses and
Cassady Shough battled from start to finish in their wild showdowns…
Moses lost the first set in a breaker, then responded with a nice 6-3 counter, before ultimately winning the match on a 10-8 winner-take-all race. Shough's match was very similar, as she fell behind early before countering with a comfortable 6-2 bounce-back frame…
Her breaker went even longer, moving to extra points before eventually scraping to a 12-10 triumph and rather entertaining line score.
Ohio Northern falls to 13-5 overall and 2-2 against the OAC this season. The Cards will get back home this weekend and face Capital for possession of the rivalry oar.
